#3 – GE Aerospace: Inventing The Future

“To invent the future of flight, lift people up and bring them home safely.”

Since 2024, GE Aerospace has been operating as an independent company, spun off from the former General Electric (GE) conglomerate.

While the General Electric Company was founded in 1892 by Thomas Edison and became one of the most iconic industrial giants in American history, GE Aerospace represents just one branch of that legacy—focused on aviation and propulsion technologies.

Headquartered in Cincinnati, GE Aerospace was previously known as GE Aviation, a division of GE that played a critical role in the development of commercial and military aircraft engines throughout the 20th and early 21st century.

Following a decade-long restructuring process, the original GE conglomerate formally dissolved in 2024, with GE Aerospace emerging as the successor in the aviation space—carrying forward its engineering excellence and ambition under a renewed, focused purpose.

What powered its journey from Edison’s electric company to aerospace giant was purposeful engineering.

The idea of inventing the future has been in their DNA for over a century.

From helping launch the first U.S. jet engine in WWII to leading today’s sustainability efforts in aviation, GE Aerospace has always looked ahead.

This purpose—lifting people and bringing them home safely—is more than inspiring. It’s operational.

It guides R&D, talent culture, safety standards, and their bold commitment to net-zero emissions. It’s a north star that keeps both feet on the ground while aiming for the skies.

For GE Aerospace, purpose is a competitive advantage—lived at every level of the organization. When purpose and performance align, innovation becomes inevitable—and impact, exponential.
